Leather Class

Job Description

As coordinator and teacher of the leather program, you will work a few mornings a week. There are approximately 10 high school girls in the class, who have earned the opportunity to participate through good academic performance and/or good behaviour. The girls elaborate leather products, which are sold and earn the profits from the sales. Please note that you will be trained in the basics of leather work!

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and help the girls during the hours of class
  • Buy leather for making the products
  • Research new products / encourage the girls to make new designs
  • Assist the production volunteer to market and sell the products
  • Administer the program
  • Keep financial records and ensure the girls are paid
  • Create a good atmosphere for the class
  • Motivate the girls
  • Organize occasional outings

Salary

This is a volunteer position without financial compensation.
